Full-Stack Developer & Sysadmin — building systems that work in the real world.
I'm a Systems Analyst at Iowa State University and a full-stack developer and Linux sysadmin who likes building practical things — whether that's self-hosted infrastructure, automation scripts, or web applications. I run my own homelab and manage a suite of services at easker.com.
On the dev side I build web apps and tooling. On the ops side I manage Linux servers, Docker stacks, nginx reverse proxies, Cloudflare Tunnels, and backup pipelines. I believe in owning your own stack and automating everything that can be automated.
When I'm not at a keyboard I'm probably outdoors — and even then I'm thinking about ways to make the tech side of field work less painful.
Self-hosted suite behind Cloudflare Tunnels: Nextcloud, GitLab, Open WebUI, Vaultwarden, nginx, and oauth2-proxy for SSO.
Self-hosted HTML5 game collection — Asteroids, Snake, and more. Static content via nginx with long-lived cache headers.
Python pipeline that ingests photos and videos from multiple devices, deduplicates by hash, and organizes into a dated folder structure for Nextcloud.
PXE/netboot infrastructure plus unattended install scripts for provisioning Ubuntu desktops and servers from scratch.
Ollama + Open WebUI running local LLMs on-prem. Full ChatGPT-style interface — no data leaves the homelab, no rate limits.
Multi-device rsync backup system covering phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops — incremental, logged, scripted so backups actually happen.
